Thrill of the chase

23 March 2007

Signal isolation is an interesting problem; deriving and applying filters can be fun as any game. Although the eventual payout from his lawsuit against PNL may be a financial bonanza, Joe’s filtering of the data is almost certainly a larger prize. An ε chance of payout does not dissuade people from spending a lifetime looking for signal (think π) when there may be no signal at all; I suspect the difficulty for this voyage of discovery will be isolating only the strongest signals from the background of steady signals. I know Joe wants mounts for his walls; mere trophies to warm the heart with memories of the hunt. Here’s to the glory of the stalk and the thrill of the kill.
