Obama Exclusion Zone: King County

23 February 2008

The area in green are the parts of King County within which no firearms dealers would be allowed to operate, based solely on exclusions for middle and high schools, as proposed by Obama. This excludes elementary schools, higher education, and parks. Most of the east side (right side) of this map are parks of various compositions. Map from MapPoint. Data from Washington State. Nice map.

It looks even worse if you were to add parks in. North Bend has a park, for example. That would extend the coverage up I-90 to just about the end of services.

  2. Samir Chopra Says:

Cool, gun control gets taken care of by building parks and schools.

Don’t know how they place schools in King County, but where I live elementary schools lie much thicker on the ground than middle & high school. I imagine that most cities have no locations more than five miles from an elementary school. Obama’s plan sounds like a piece of political rhetoric and nowhere close to a sensible plan, even from a gun-control perspective.

    Dishman,

It goes even farther if you include state parks in the exclusion zone. Iron Horse State Park, a railbed converted to a multi-use trail parallels I-90, starting just outside North Bend and continuing 110 miles to the Columbia River.

Hmm. The Founders had maps and compasses with which to draw circles also, so I guess they would have added this restriction to the Second Amendment had they intended the Second to be restricted like that.

The Founder didn’t intend that, and neither do I.

Tired and trite as it may be, it bears repeating, “…empty gun from my cold dead hands.”

  9. R.J. Says:

I commented that the five-mile zones would overlap to the point that gun shops couldn’t operate in cities at all, over on the KABA website. Now I see what these maps represent, and just how extensive these exclusion zones are! And yes, Osama Hussein Obama knows this, and is counting on it!
