Things I love

Words cannot describe

This photographer’s aversion to risk is much different than mine. The most immediate non-obvious risk is one of those bullets hitting something hard behind him and coming back out at his back; I’m sure you can think of others.

ETA: It’s James Yeager, of the infamous ambush on Edinborough Risk Ambush. If you watch the video, James exits left; the ambush is on the right.

  1. Eh. If stuff’s going to come bouncing out of that berm, they’re close enough that it’d be a hazard to everyone on the line. And if the guys on the line aren’t complete idiots, his actual chance of getting hit with a direct shot is nil. This is a stunt. A stunt designed to enhance his reputation with a certain audience, at the cost of minimal real risk. Notice that this video even exists. If all you saw was the resulting pictures, you’d never know he didn’t just use a tripod. It’s important that you know.

  2. This is USDA Grade-A Stupidity. The chances of him getting a direct shot are terribly high. I’ve watched plenty of people completely miss the target at that distance. Even professionals goof from time to time.

That’s stupidity and shouldn’t be treated as anything different.

  5. Morons. Every single one of them. There is NO way I would participate in such a stupid display of gun handling. Everyone there should have refused to fire until the camera was setup with a remote trigger.

Shame on whoever’s range this is at as well.

  8. Well, that one video just guaranteed that I will never take a firearm-related course from that moron or his school…

  9. [...] Guns and teh st00pid. Go watch and be amazed. Honestly, can you not put a tripod down range? And here’s a pretty dumb bit of gun handling too. [...]

  10. Maybe it’s an example of a subconscious guilty conscience in action?

World-class dumb. I’d've stood down from the line and raised hell.
