A day at the range

My former co-worker wanted to hit the range again, and offered to pay. A free day at the range? Mai oui! I alternated loading three or six magazines of Green Tag, three or six of Federal bulk; I found I could not get through three mags of federal without multiple failures to fire. In one string of three mags, I had six failures to go off; all went off the second strike. I had, out of a bag of Green Tag that had 500 or 600 rounds, two failures to ignite. I gave the rest of the box of Federal to former co-worker and decided to stick with ammo that I know works.

This was the second time we’ve spent a couple hours at Wade’s, and the other shooters were not quite as bad as last time, but they managed to pull off some boners. I saw two target holders destroyed at close range, and lots of people over-matched by the pistol they had; if you’re hanging one of those big zombie targets at the first baffle and shooting a pattern, you really should re-evaluate your firearm of choice. Several times the RSOs would run out and tell people to put eye protection on, only to have to return a few minutes later when the same person took it off again. I was in the far left lane this time, and I saw a laser slowly creep from just in front of my position out towards the berm before whoever it was started blasting away; the bullets were hitting the berm in my lane from somewhere over on the right third of the shooting line. At least I didn’t see the ceiling baffles raining from above this time.

I do so very much miss Idaho.
