Watching pros at work
Experts drop a bridge. You can tell how far the cameras are pushed in by the audio delay. Second view where you can clearly see the timing charges kick off the delays, which then kick the cutting charges. Turn your sound down on the second one.
New digs
Back in downtown Seattle.
I can technically see the water from near here:
Not as nice a view as Joe’s, but better than my old office.
Texas requires a permit for simple glassware
A homebrewer I know of wanted to buy an Erlenmeyer flask to do starters in; sadly, he lives in Texas, so he had to fill out a form, build secure storage, and have a visit from DPS to inspect his storage. All this for a flask you can buy for $20 from dozens of shippers on Amazon.
We are so fucked.
Free markets
$440 buys you a Norinco M14 in Canada. If only we could import those evil Chinese rifles to the US…
Praise inhibits learning
Well, the type of praise might.
The physicist Niels Bohr once defined an expert as “a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made in a very narrow field.”
I should be approaching expert in how to package explosives.
One pill makes you larger
Sign me up for both sides of this. Take a pill, focus on bad memories, and they’re erased. Take another pill, have super memory. Fuck yeah, living in the future.
Start date
I was told the 15th, now they say maybe the 27th, maybe not. Still waiting on callbacks for Friday’s screens.
New time lapse
Shot one down on Magnolia this morning. Forgot to lock the white balance; I want a video camera with banks of settings, this is for the birds.
I like the log at the end. If I’d noticed it at the time I was shooting, I would have stayed until it left the view.
