If you make it expensive (or difficult) to build something 200 feet tall, people will build something 198 feet tall; later, someone might be killed, as the difference between 200 and 198 feet doesn’t matter when you’re flying a crop duster. Of course, the people that built the tower reasonably looked at the expense of a 200 foot tower and said “198 feet is close enough”; I don’t see a solution to this problem that doesn’t involve banning crop dusting or tower building.

Kwikernu is documenting his process of getting an FFL; getting an FFL is too hard, and I hope he’s able to get the ATFE to apply consistent standards to the process. That said,

There are at least ten 01 FFL’s that run businesses out of their homes in Williamson County. If the BATFE decides I cannot then I will attempt to shut the other FFL’s down.

I gave up trying to get an FFL for the same reasons he’s running into; bullshit zoning restrictions unevenly applied.

I still have not tried to wear the cargo pants, as they are light and the weather requires more out of pants than protection from the sun; in the interim, though, I should note the half-zip sweatshirt is pretty much EDW in this weather. Around the house, I wear it constantly; outside, I wear it quite frequently. Everything I said about it before still stands; one new problem is a grease stain that I just cannot get out, relegating the pullover to less formal times.

Last month, the Poly Fleece Jacket (black) showed up; the quality of construction is the same (very good) and my complaint is the same (a little short). The main reason I don’t wear it is the Boomershoot coat + jacket + sweatshirt is too much; however, when the weather turns merely cold, it fits the bill fine. The elbow-to-waist zippers make interior access easy; if I used a shoulder holster, this jacket would be the only one I wore. It has awesome pockets with hidden tie-downs for all of your pocket securing needs; now that we’ve transitioned to snow, I might have chosen to wear it more, except this showed up.

The ELITE DISCREET CARRY TWILL JACKET has a bunch of great features, such as routing for cables and tie downs for Zunes. It came in a nice brown color; it’s a heavy coat with plenty of pockets. As it just arrived, I haven’t had a chance to test it out, but I’m watching the snow pile up with anticipation of wearing the new coat outside.
